KUALA LUMPUR: Who knew Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had been holding to a seven-year dream to one day bring his mother to watch Maher Zain perform live in concert.
The young member of parliament said that soon, his dream would come since he was more than abled now to gift mummy dearest such an opportunity.
“Seven years ago when Maher Zain performed here, I had no means to attend his concert since I was just a university student and I didn’t have the money.
“My wish has always been to bring my mother to watch his show as my birthday gift to her. And now I can realise it,” he said at the launch of the Swedish-Lebanese singer-songwriter’s concert tour at NU Sentral here today.
Syed Saddiq was at the launch as a special guest of CIMB Islamic, the concert’s main sponsor.
Co-organised by New Catalysts Resources and My Events International, the concert tour which is set set to kick off in March, will see Maher Zain performing at four different locations in the country.
The first venue is Axiata Arena here on March 9, followed by Pasir Gudang Corporation stadium in Johor Baru on March 15. Spice Arena in Penang is next (March 16) and it will culminate at University Malaysia in Kota Kinabalu (March 17).
