KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Vanidah Imran said it was never her intention to hide the news of her divorce with actor Rashidi Ishak, but felt that matters concerning their split was too personal to share with the public.
“Everything happens for a reason — including our divorce. But let those reasons be known to us (Vanidah and Rashidi) only.
“It wouldn’t be nice for me to share the cause of our separation, as that would only bring shame to us both,” said the 45-year-old artiste in a news report, yesterday.
Vanidah said this in response to Rashidi’s disclosure about their marital status via Instagram, yesterday. Vanidah said Rashidi and her had mutually decided to part ways amicably.
Seven months since living life as a single mother, Vanidah who has two children with Rashidi — Mikhail Aimran, 18 and Maryam Rashika, 15 — said she had learned to accept that their marriage had ended. Despite the divorce, Vanidah said there were no hard feelings between them.
“We divorced in an amicable manner, there was no argument. The decision to file for a divorce was mutually agreed by us both after a long discussion.
“For the sake of our children, we agreed to remain on good terms. We vowed to remain as good friends,” she said.
Vanidah and Rashidi tied the knot in 2000. Yesterday, Rashidi announced that they were officially divorced on Aug 9 last year.
