KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Afdlin Shauki, known as a best friend and collaborator of Datuk Hans Isaac, seems to have taken a swipe at celebrity couple Fattzura.
In an Instagram post accompanied by a photo of himself presenting an award in the 1990s, the 48-year-old actor, singer and director said even though he was already married back then, he did not bring along his wife onto the stage to co-present awards with him.
This apparently was his take on the recent controversy involving actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin and her actor husband Fattah Amin who co-presented the Special Jury Award at the 30th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM30).
It resulted in FFM30 consultant Hans sending a tweet to Fazura expressing his dissatisfaction with their pairing-up.
In his post, Afdlin said: “Even though I was already married back then, I didn't bring my wife on stage. She was busy at home looking after the kids.”
Netizens mostly agreed with him, and felt that it was not right for “Fattzura” to appear on stage together. They felt that Fattah was not an industry veteran and Fazura needed a more experienced co-presenter for the Special Jury Award.
“Wow! That’s you presenting Anugerah Industri Muzik. Well said Datuk Afdlin,” said Mia.
“Better for actors to follow Namron and Bront Palarae. They didn’t bring their wives along,” said Eina.
“Haha! It’s an obvious dig at Fattzura,” said OKJ.
Fazura, 35, was alleged to have made a personal request at the 11th hour for Fattah, 28, to get on stage with her to present the Special Jury Award.
However, she and Fattah both denied it, and demanded an apology from Hans.
Hans said that his WhatsApp message to Fazura was “private and friendly”, and did not expect it to be leaked to the public.
Fattah insisted that he was asked by the organisers to co-present an award category with Fazura, in order to “provide an element of surprise”.
He also said he had not been informed beforehand that the Special Jury Award category was supposed to be presented by past FFM winners like Fazura.
