KUALA LUMPUR: Thrilled that its concert tickets have all been snapped up, British pop band 911 cannot wait to meet its Malaysian fans again at its The Reunion concert on Saturday.
To be held at Quill Convention Centre at Quill City Mall KL at 8.30pm, this also marks the group’s first Malaysian concert in almost 20 years.
“It’s amazing how Malaysian fans still remember us, after more than 20 years now,” said a third of the trio, Simon “Spike” Dawbarn, 44.
Popular in the late 1990s, the band that has churned our hit songs such as Don’t Make Me Wait, The Day We Find Love and Bodyshakin’, also comprises Lee Brennan, 45, and Jimmy Constable, 47.
The trio are in town and held a press conference at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel yesterday.
“It’s great to be back in Kuala Lumpur, a city which holds many fond memories for us, such as warm reception we received when we performed at showcase here then,” said Constable, reminiscing their first visit here in 2000.
The band was established in 1995 only to see the members split five years down the road.
However in 2013, 911 reunited for British ITV2’s reality show The Big Reunion and has since been enjoying being in the limelight again, performing a tour throughout the UK and Ireland.
It has even released a comeback album Illuminate: The Hits and More in September the same year.
