KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak-born filmmaker James Wan is now engaged, to a multi-lingual beauty from one of his horror flicks The Nun.
Wan, 42, who hails from Kuching, Sarawak but is based in Australia, announced his engagement to 31-year-old actress Ingrid Bisu on Instagram yesterday.
Uploading a close-up photo of both of them, he said in his caption, "Engaged to this beautiful, amazing woman!"
Two days ago, Bisu also announced their engagement on her Instagram account, and added that their engagement took place five months ago.
She said: "It’s official, I can finally announce that we’re engaged! And have been for about 5 months but kept it under wraps."
Wan is best known for directing the horror films Saw (2004), Insidious (2010), The Conjuring, Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), The Conjuring 2 (2016) and DC Comics superhero adventure Aquaman (2018).
He was the producer of The Nun (2018) which was directed by Corin Hardy.
Wan's family migrated to Perth, Western Australia when he was seven, and he pursued a media degree course at the RMIT University in Melbourne.
Romanian-German actress Bisu is known for starring in the comedy drama Toni Erdmann (2016) which was nominated at the Cannes Film Festival for the Palme d'Or award in 2017.
She is fluent in English, French, German and Latin.
Netizens congratulated Wan and Bisu on their engagement.
