KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning actress Vanidah Imran will soon co-star with her former husband Rashidi Ishak in a political thriller.
The film titled Daulat is scheduled for early next year and filming has just been completed.
Vanidah plays an ambitious politician named Suri who makes sure her party wins general elections by hook or crook.
“Acting with Rashidi is not a problem, since we are still friends and furthermore, we are the parents of our two children. We get along well as usual on the set, as we are professionals,” said Vanidah in a news report today.
“When we are on the set, we get into our respective roles and we don’t bring our private lives on board. As actors, we have to work as a team because the success of our film is our shared responsibility.”
Vanidah also said it would not be fair to “keep away” from films that star Rashidi, since doing so would not benefit their careers. “Furthermore, both of us work to support the same people - our children. We both share a common interest in their education and well-being, so it will not be fair if we stand in the way of each other’s career.”
Vanidah and Rashidi, both 46, divorced on Aug 9 last year. Married on Oct 1, 2000, they have two children Mikhail Imran, 18 and Maryam Rashika, 15.
