KUALA LUMPUR: Marvel recently introduced its new characters from Asia, and included is a superhero from Malaysia.

It is well known that Marvel characters hail from all kinds of different creeds and backgrounds, and after years of anticipation, we finally have one to call our own.

According to a video announcement shared on its website recently, the superhero is called Sun Bird (named after a local bird species, burung kelicap), a character to be introduced in Marvel Future Fight, a superhero-themed mobile video game.

“An all-new original team of Marvel Super Heroes, created exclusively for Marvel Future Fight, have united to protect the planet as evil arises once again.

“We are excited to introduce this original team, Warriors of the Sky, to Marvel Future Fight fans and expand on the continually growing, wide variety of character choices in the game,” the caption on the video read.

This character is described as having the ability to heal, which is vital for the group that he is in, the Warriors of the Sky.

His backstory is that he was a Malaysian pirate in the 1600s and was reborn with the power of his two krises and a groovy haircut.

A senior producer from Marvel Games was quoted in a recent news report that Sun Bird will fight alongside War Tiger from Thailand, Blue Dragon from Vietnam, and Shadow Shell from Taiwan.

Marvel Future Fight is now in its fourth year and has more than 100 million players worldwide.
