#Showbiz: Sheila Rusly opens dim sum restaurant

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite having to close down her previous restaurant selling nasi dagang due to management issues, it never stopped Sheila Rusly from continuing pursuing her passion in F&B.

Last month, the award-winning director, producer and actress opened a dim sum restaurant called The Dim Sum Place Kuala Lumpur, in Desa Pandan, here.

Sheila who hosted cooking show Ketuk-Ketuk Ramadan for 15 years, said that she felt the need to have the restaurant franchise from Singapore, here, after realising that there weren’t many halal dim sum eateries in the country.

“If the response to this restaurant is overwhelming, we will not hesitate to open more branches nationwide beginning next year.

“There is a demand for this special Chinese cuisine but it is difficult to find one that is tasty and halal,” she said in a news report today.

Sheila said that her dim sum restaurant has been halal certified so as to attract more Muslims to enjoy dim sum without hesitation.

The 48-year-old artiste also gave her undertaking that the prices for her dim sum dishes are affordable.
