GEORGE TOWN: A gas leak led to an explosion which damaged the roof and steel shutters of a dim sum restaurant in Prangin Estate this morning.
No one was injured in the incident which happened in the wee hours of the morning.
Lebuh Pantai Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Sufian Md Zainuddin said they were alerted to the explosion at around 5.32am.
Checks were carried out to ensure the safety of the area.
Tanjung member of Parliament Lim Hui Ying shared photos of the restaurant on her Facebook page.
"Representatives from my service centre as well as those from Padang Kota and Komtar state constituencies were also onsite to monitor the situation and render the necessary assistance," she added.
