KUALA LUMPUR: Afflicted with several health complications, including colon cancer, veteran actor Abu Bakar Juah is reported to be in an unstable and weak condition.
In a news report yesterday, his son Zarith Abu Bakar was quoted as saying that his 72-year-old father who was currently being treated at home now, had been ill since 2017.
“Initially, doctors found that there was a tumour in his intestines, which had since been removed.
“Since then, he had undergone chemotherapy for 15 months. However, last month, when he had jaundice and admitted to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre, doctors discovered that his liver could no longer function due to gallstone.
Zarith added that doctors had also confirmed that cancer cells had also spread to his liver.
“But because of his age and condition, chemotherapy could no longer be administered for my father.”
Zarith also said his father’s memory had been affected due to the medications he was on now, causing him not to be able to recognise people anymore.
Besides acting, Abu Bakar was also a senior prison officer at taiping Prison before he retired in 2005.
He last acted in the drama series Mr Grey in 2018.
Abu Bakar who is married to Rusidah Mohd Yassin has four children and one grandchild.
