KUALA LUMPUR: Legendary crooner Datuk Jamal Abdillah admits that besides being happy to find out that his wife Datin Zai Izzati Khiruddin is expecting, he is also a little nervous.
In a news report yesterday, the artiste who turns 61 today said that this is because anticipating a new addition to the family also means that he must be prepared to work harder to ensure that he will be able to support his growing family, as he is not getting any younger.
"If a man in his 70s or 80s and is still healthy, it's not impossible for him to get a new baby. And my wife is still young (Zai is 25). But as a father with a baby at my age, I also need to prepare well for my young children, like having enough savings for their education when they grow up," he said.
Jamal and Zai married on April 1, 2017 and the couple welcomed their firstborn, Nur Azura Yamani, last October.
"When Azura is 10, I'd be 71. So of course, I have to ensure that everything is put aside for her needs then from now," explained Jamal who added that Zai is already in her thirteenth week of pregnancy.
The singer also has two older sons from his previous marriages: Osama Yamani, 18, and Ahmad Zaki Yamani, 13.
