#Showbiz: No reason to be embarrassed for selling food, says Lydiawati

KUALA LUMPUR: Being the sole breadwinner for her family, veteran actress Lydiawati does not mind toiling in the kitchen to prepare food for her to sell now.

Like many others in the entertainment industry, the 52-year-old actress is also left jobless since the beginning of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 18.

"Although I have a little bit of savings to rely on, it'll soon dry up. So, I'd rather use the time that I have now to generate some income," said the actress whose real name is Salina Saimon in a news report yesterday.

"As suggested by friends, I'm now selling food on a small scale basis. Thankfully, there are a few celebrity friends such as Erma Fatima and Ellie Suriati who have become my regular customers, who also help out to market my dishes on social media."

Lydiawati also added that although times are difficult, she wouldn't hope for assistance from any artistes' organisations as she believed that she could still manage and there are individuals who need the help more than she does, especially those who are sick.

"Besides, it's fun to be able to make some money, although it may not be much. And there's definitely no reason for me to feel embarrassed about it."
