KUALA LUMPUR: Popular animated film BoBoiBoy Movie 2 (BBM2) recently bagged two awards at the Laurus Film Festival in Russia.
The official Facebook and Twitter accounts of BoBoiBoy announced yesterday that BBM2, which was screened last year, won Best Photo/Poster and Best Trailer/Teaser.
BBM2 defeated Australian films Secret Of The Flower and Willow World and Brazilian film Efface Derriere in Best Photo/Poster category, and India's The Guilt, the US' War Brides Of Japan: The Chase and the United Kingdom's I'll Walk With God in Best Trailer/Teaser category.
The Laurus Film Festival is organised by the Catharsis Film Company, and was first held last year.
The festival aims to support cinematographers and contribute to the development of film industries and audience involvement in film evaluation.
BBM2's win at Laurus came shortly after its nomination for the prestigious New York Animation Film Awards 2020 (NYAFA) in mid-June.
NYAFA is a film festival established and managed by the Cinematography Awards Foundation, based in New York, the United States.
It is aimed at featuring great animation work from around the globe.
The awards ceremony will be held via "live screenings" tomorrow.
BBM2, created by Monsta (formerly known as Animonsta Studios) hit cinemas in August last year, and collected RM27.7 million at the local box office in 26 days, making it the most successful local animated film.
BBM2 also became the fourth best-selling Malaysian film after Munafik 2 (RM48 million), Hantu Kak Limah (RM36.23 million) and Ejen Ali: The Movie (RM30.05 million).
