#Showbiz: Marsha Milan helps uplift spirits of Sabahans hit hard by Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabahan singer Marsha Milan has recently teamed up with airasia.com's Muslim-friendly line of business IKHLAS in a digital donation drive to help communities in the Land Below the Wind.

Dubbed 'IKHLAS for Sabah', the 34-year-old artiste said she had pledged her support to encourage more people to donate to the campaign at ikhlas.com.

The organisation's objective is to help communities in Sabah, which is currently the state with the highest cases of Covid-19 infection in the country.

This, Marsha said, was also in line with the message in her new single titled Insan Tadau, a duet with fellow Sabahan singer Velvet Aduk, released last month.

"When Velvet and I were in the midst of producing our song, Insan Tadau (which means One Day), we found out about the 'IKHLAS for Sabah' digital donation drive which was taking place at the same time our song was going to be launched.

"I was truly moved by the initiative as it was meant to help my fellow Sabahans back home, and I want to do my part to help as well although I am unable to return for now," she said in the statement today.

Marsha also added: "I hope through this joint effort, the public will be encouraged to donate via ikhlas.com and reach out to as many who need assistance as possible in Sabah."

Meanwhile, IKHLAS head Ikhlas Kamarudin said they were pleased to have Sabahan celebrities such as Marsha and Kumpulan Zero joining hands with them in the campaign.

"We are happy to share that our first distribution of basic necessities last week at Pulau Gaya, Papar, Kudat, Tawau and Sandakan were successful and have covered at least 1,150 underprivileged families."

"Since the campaign launch, RM136,974 have been collected. As the donation drive is still on-going, we hope more Malaysians will come together to donate at ikhlas.com."
