KUALA LUMPUR: Having recently set up his own social media account, Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau has also opened up on his personal life to fans and followers.
In his first live update on Douyin (or TikTok as known elsewhere), the 60-year-old artiste shared about his low-key wedding to his 56-year-old Malaysia-born wife, Carol Chu, 13 years ago.
According to a China Press news report, Lau did not invite anyone to his wedding as he was worried that he might miss inviting some people.
"As I might miss inviting a friend, and offend that person, I decided that it was best not to invite anyone at all. I did not even throw a dinner reception," he said, surprising his followers on the app.
Just two days of joining Douyin, Lau already had already accumulated 55 million followers, beating fellow superstars like actress Zhang Ziyi, Eason Chan and JJ Lin.
Lau and Chu tied the knot secretly in 2008, after being in a relationship for 24 years.
Only a year later, during an interview with the press, did Lau reveal about his marriage.
He also apologised to his fans for lying and disappointing them about his personal life.
The couple has an eight-year-old daughter named Hanna.
