KUALA LUMPUR: After a single lafaz, Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor's elder sister, Noor Nabila, 36, was pronounced the wife of Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin, 46, at Masjid At Taqwa in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, here, at 10.02am.
The solemnisation ceremony saw Nabila's brother, Mohamed Aqief Mohd Noor, sitting in as representative.
Nabila received her mas kahwin in the form of a ring. However, there were no exchanges of dulang hantaran between the bride and the bridegroom. The amount of "hantaran" was also not disclosed.
"Praise be to God, everything went smoothly in a simple manner while adhering to the SOP.
"The event was only attended by family members, relatives and close friends. We did what was required aside from keeping it a modest affair.
"What's important is that we seek out blessings. We don't intend to hold any other ceremony after this," she said in a news report today.
Nabila added that she did not get engaged to Engku Emran as was hotly rumoured.
"We did not get engaged like what many had suspected. I first got to know Engku Emran sometime last August. At the time, we were just friends.
"We started to get close during the end of last year. In fact, we both share a love for cycling," she said.
Talking about her husband, Nabila said that their blossoming relationship was an unexpected development.
"We both have experienced what married life was before. So we are quite mature and are aware of what is needed to be a couple.
"God-willing, we will do our best and always be there for each other," she said.
Nabila and actor Sharnaaz Ahmad divorced last July after almost a year of facing marital troubles. They are blessed with a son, Jebat Jayden.
Engku Emran's marriage to Indonesian celebrity Laudya Cynthia Bella also ended in divorce after only two years together.
Before that, he was married to actress Erra Fazira and they were blessed with a daughter, Engku Aleesya.
