#Showbiz: Search's songs may be worth millions of ringgit, says Nordin

KUALA LUMPUR: The evergreen songs of rock legends Search are believed to be worth millions of ringgit, and several parties have expressed their interest to buy its song catalogue.

Search's guitarist Nordin Taib revealed that buyers were "very keen" on acquiring the song catalogue of their company Go Search Sdn Bhd, which contained songs from eight studio albums namely Fenomena, Karisma, Rampage, Gema Di Timur Jauh, Rock N' Roll Pie, Bikin Wilayah, Selepas Banjir and Gothik Malam Edan.

"We are still at the discussion stage with the interested buyers. There's still a long way to go," he said in a news report today.

Search, which will mark its 40th anniversary this year, comprises guitarists Nordin and Hamzah Taib or Kid and bassist Nasir Daud. The group's lead singer Suhaimi Abdul Rahman or Amy left last year.

Rock singer and actor Datuk Awie of Wings is their current guest vocalist, while Pae of Projek Pistol is their guest drummer.

Search plans to hold a new concert, Projek Bikin Wilayah 2021 later this year. It was supposed to be held last month was postponed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Nordin also said that Search was promoting the popular Aliph sports shoes which were a hit with rock fans in the 1980s.

"We've had meetings with the owners of the brand and we'll be promoting the Aliph Search model of shoes at our events. The other Aliph models will be introduced later."

Nordin added that Search was not merely a rock band, but also a brand and institution which was still going strong after four decades.
