#Showbiz: Didie Alias saddened by multiple Covid-19 deaths in her family

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Didie Alias is grieving the passing of five family members due to the Covid-19 pandemic in such quick succession.

The 49-year-old artiste who is also a comedian said that she was traumatised by the deaths beginning with her aunt which was the youngest sibling from her mother's side of the family.

"It was then followed by my grand aunt and former brother-in-law as well as two cousins who I had grown up together with.

"I just felt so heartbroken when I could only see them being laid to rest through videos that were shared.

"As the days go by, this virus is getting too close for comfort as my own family members have become victims," she said in a news report yesterday.

Traumatised by the experience, the artiste whose real name is Fadzilah Mohd @ Ali pleaded for everyone to take extra safety precautions and to adhere to the SOP.

"Covid-19 is not fictitious. My hope is for everyone to act responsibly in order for this pandemic to be contained," she said.

She also expressed her concern at the recent drastic increase in Covid-19 positive cases.

"My mother is now in Melaka with my younger sibling. After realising that there have been positive cases in the vicinity, I've been advising her to stay home and to make sure everything is kept clean," she said.

The Kanta Serigala and Boss actress added that she would be heading back to filming on location in the near future despite feeling apprehensive about it.

"After receiving my second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, I'll be back on location soon to continue with filming for the drama series Cukup Derita Itu.

"For me, I'm certainly worried to work now especially with the increase in the number of cases but this is my job so I will have to do it.

"All I can do is to just strictly adhere to the safety measures and SOP," she said.
