KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Francissca Peter has expressed her sadness at the suffering that the ongoing pandemic has caused on society.
Taking to her Twitter yesterday, the 60-year-old artiste wrote: "This should not be happening to our nation."
"This says a lot about our situation. No work, no income, you either die of starvation or our suicides are high.
"I just feel so broken to see that we are in such a state," said Francissca who is also fondly known as Fran.
Her tweet was accompanied by an unnerving picture taken from an article in a recent news report on a homeless person who was found dead in a car.
The heart-breaking entry which has since been retweeted over 15,900 times also elicited comments from Netizens who were shocked and saddened by the incident and the ongoing crisis caused by the pandemic.
In her following tweets the singer, songwriter and actress said that, "No one should die like that no matter what his or her circumstances were."
"It is sad to see the pictures but if people think it's not happening then they are sorely mistaken.
"We need to do more, not just get food but monetary aid is desperately needed.
"People are dying daily not just from Covid but also because they've no money to buy meds and see a doctor at the clinic if unwell," she said.
