#Showbiz: 'Not all of us can hire stylists and wardrobe teams' - Sharifah Amani

KUALA LUMPUR: A major problem faced by actors and actresses, especially in television dramas, is the difficulty in obtaining their own clothes for each project.

Sepet and Gubra actress Sharifah Amani said that they were often required to provide their own wardrobes, and expected to find sponsors for their clothes.

"It is 2021, yet we still have to find sponsors for our clothes or purchase them ourselves. No wonder you often see actors and actresses wearing the same outfits for different dramas," said Amani in a tweet recently.

"The reality is, not all of us can afford to purchase new outfits. Not all of us can hire stylists and wardrobe teams.

"And furthermore, production companies are also struggling with small budgets.

"This is a longstanding problem that has yet to be resolved."

While Amani believes that production companies should not be blamed for this problem, everybody in the entertainment industry should work together to come up with a new mechanism to improve the quality of local dramas.

"Many of us are trying our best to fix the system that has long been broken. It is not that we cannot or do not want to give our best.

"There are some things in the system that really need to be improved, so that we can all move forward, and the difficulty of getting our own clothes is one of them," said Amani.
