#Showbiz: Iman Troye latest Malaysian act to appear on New York Times Square billboard

KUALA LUMPUR: After girl group Dolla graced the digital billboard at New York Times Square, it's now singer Iman Troye's turn to do so.

The 18-year-old artiste has been selected as the Malaysian representative for EQUAL campaign, a global programme by digital music streaming platform Spotify, in its efforts to highlight female artistes around the world.

"Praise be to God, I am truly thankful for this honour. It is a big achievement for someone who is considered relatively new in the local music industry, what more being a Malaysian Muslim singer who dons the hijab.

"I hope I will be able to continue to fulfil the wishes of my supporters and followers. I would also like to thank my family, friends, and supporters for the undying love and support they have shown me throughout my musical career," said Iman whose real name is Siti Nur Iman Alyssa Sahabudin in a statement today.

There are currently 35 local EQUAL playlists covering artists from over 50 countries.

Iman is a representative from EQUAL Malaysia and Singapore's playlists.

The music video of her debut single Teman, released last year, was viewed more than 45 million times, and the song was streamed 1.5 million times on Spotify.

She recently released a single, titled Nang, which has already garnered more than two million views.
