#Showbiz: Daddycap aspires to be MP someday

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular hip-hop singer Ariz Ramli or Daddycap is known to be vocal on issues of public interest, especially on Instagram.

The newlywed who hails from Jelebu, Negri Sembilan aspires to become a Member of Parliament someday, as he feels strongly about various issues affecting the well-being of Malaysian society.

"God willing, I'd love to be an MP one day, perhaps 10 years from now. I am outspoken about many things facing our country such as bigotry, corruption and social ills," he said in a news report yesterday.

Daddycap added that he hoped to represent the interests of young Malaysians, who made up the majority of the workforce.

"As a young Malaysian, I want my country to be in good shape and the government to be in safe hands. Young Malaysians will eventually inherit the country, and now is the right time for all of us to start preparing ourselves for leadership."

Citing neighbouring Indonesia as a good example of a country that elected young professionals as lawmakers, he said: "Indonesia has chosen many young entrepreneurs as members of its legislature and they include Nadiem Makarim, the founder of Gojek and the current education minister."

"The next decade will be crucial for young Malaysians. It is time for young leaders to make themselves heard as lawmakers, as the future belongs to them."

Daddycap, 33, tied the knot with Kelantan-born Farra Inalis Hussni on Nov 15. She has a five-year-old daughter Aleesya Sofea from her previous marriage.

The artiste previously known as Caprice began his singing career in 2007 and his best known songs include Lenglui, Dem Girls, Chikaro and Baby Sayang.
