KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Datuk Rosyam Nor who starred alongside Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth in the Tamil action film Kabali five years ago, will appear in yet another foreign action film.
This time around it's a Hong Kong film set for release on New Year's eve.
In an Instagram post today, Rosyam, 54, revealed that the film was titled G Storm and featured popular Hong Kong actor Louis Koo as the hero.
In the caption to an official trailer of G Storm which he uploaded, Rosyam said: "G Storm will be out in cinemas on Dec 31. This action film is about the work of the fearless officers of Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) who are the equivalent of our own Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)."
Rosyam, who is marking his debut in a Hong Kong film, added: "I am not playing the team of heroes, that is for sure. Instead, I am one of the bad guys!"
Rosyam's character is King, and he is the ruthless head of a human trafficking syndicate.
Netizens congratulated Rosyam on his debut in Chinese cinema.
Actress Jasmine Suraya Chin of Paskal said: "Tahniah Datuk Rosyam. You do Malaysia proud!"
CSK said: "Congrats Datuk! You make my day starring in a Louis Koo film. He is one of my favourite actors and so are you."
Azahar said: "Mantap Datuk! Keep up the great work. You are the best."
Rosyam played a crime lord in Kabali which was partly filmed in Kuala Lumpur. He was also offered a role in the Indian horror film Aval which was released in 2017, but declined it in order to star in Syafiq Yusof's action-packed police drama KL Special Force.
