#SHOWBIZ: Rosyam Nor to sue netizens over 'Fattah-Fazura divorce' slander

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Datuk Rosyam is adamant about taking legal action against netizens who had dragged his name into the recent divorce of celebrities Nur Fazura Sharifuddin and Fattah Amin.

"I'm going to meet with my lawyer and the police to proceed with legal action. Together, we will determine all the social media users who had slandered me," he told reporters when met at the press conference for the upcoming reality show 'Famili Duo', here yesterday.

According to the 57-year-old artiste, he did not bother about the matter initially.

But when more people began commenting on social media on why he needed to give his two cents about the divorce, he realised that he needed to clear his name once and for all.

"I had always considered both Fazura and Fattah like my own younger siblings, so why would I be making a statement that would add fuel to the fire?

"I had never made any statement following their divorce, so whatever has been claimed is purely slander.

"And that is why I'm taking legal action against those who had spread such huge lies about me," he said.

Rosyam added that the situation was grave, as his reputation as a celebrity and entrepreneur was at stake.

"Not only has it affected me but also my family members and business associates."

He added that he would give his full cooperation to responsible authorities including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission in handling the matter.

Rosyam hoped that with the action he was taking, people would be more cautious in using or reading anything on social media as some information could simply be lies spread by irresponsible individuals.

After the famous couple's divorce on Oct 7, a video clip from a previously recorded podcast session by Rosyam began circulating on social media.

In the video, the actor was seen discussing a relationship in a marriage, but it had been taken out of context, and linked to the divorce.

This made it look like he was directly commenting on Fattah and Fazura's case.
