#Showbiz: Shah Rezza promotes Kelantan history with 'Cik Siti Wan Kembang'

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer, actor and producer Datuk Seri Shah Rezza is coming up with a "labour of love" to his home state Kelantan, which tells the story of a legendary warrior queen.

His latest project, which will soon begin filming is Cik Siti Wan Kembang. The legendary warrior queen ruled 14th century Kelantan and was believed to have kept barking deer or kijang as pets.

The kijang is the state animal of Kelantan, and its football team The Red Warriors uses a golden kijang as its mascot.

"Cik Siti Wan Kembang is an icon of Kelantan. She represents the fashion, culture, arts, heritage and women of my home state which is also known as Negeri Cik Siti Wan Kembang," said Shah Rezza in a news report yesterday.

"A film about her life and adventures is the best way to promote Kelantan's rich and colourful history and legends, as well as its heroines who can serve as role models to young Malaysians."

In 2018, Shah Rezza produced a telemovie about another famous Kelantanese warrior queen Tuan Petri Saadong.

The RM1 million telemovie was directed by a close friend of Shah Rezza, the late Raja Ahmad Alaudin Raja Mohamed Redzuan.

Shah Rezza first found fame in the 1980s as a singer and actor. His best known films include Ali Setan, Ali Setan 2, Balik Kampung, Kolej 56, Marah-Marah Sayang, Hati Bukan Kristal, Syukur 21, and Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam.

In 1997, he produced the album Pedoman which featured spiritual songs performed by the late Datuk Nassier Wahab, Datuk Ahmad Fauzee, Datuk Syed Sobrie, Ebby Saiful and himself.
