#Showbiz: 'JanGo' set for global market

KUALA LUMPUR: After Gadis Jolobu The Movie, Zebra Studio is currently filming a new film titled JanGo, which the company hopes to distribute to the global market later in the year.

The film which focuses on both Malay and Chinese cultures, is a collaboration between Zebra Studio and a Hong Kong-based Times Multimedia Innovation Ltd.

Zebra Studio founder and executive producer Saraleana Nattaya Azmi said that this production would be the first cross-cultural film in Malay and Chinese dialects which would be led by two Malay actors (Khir Rahman and Joey Daud) and two Chinese actors from Singapore (Zhang Yaodong and Chris Tong).

Thrilled to be collaborating with the Hong Kong production house, Saraleana said the film highlighted the multicultural Malaysia.

"We hope to reach out to global audience and to simultaneously bring our product onto a bigger platform," she said in a news report yesterday.

JanGo, short for "Jangan Goyang", is an action comedy. Co-incidentally, JanGo is also the name of the group Khir and Joey came up with when they took part in a reality programme.

Directed by CL Hor, the film is being shot in the Klang Valley.

"Having roped in an investor from China, we hope to film its sequel in Shanghai, China," shared Saraleana.
