#Showbiz: 'Business Proposal' star Kim Min Kyu to enlist in military before premiere of new drama

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular South Korean actor Kim Min Kyu will be putting his burgeoning career on hold for a while as he will be enlisting in the military for his mandatory service soon.

According to Soompi, the 27-year-old artiste's agency, Happy Tribe Entertainment, has confirmed that Kim will enlist ahead of the premiere of his upcoming K-drama, Holy Idol.

A statement from the company today read: "His enlistment date has not yet been set. But because it's now come time for him to enlist, he will be pre-recording his press conference (for the drama)."

Kim will turn 28 on Dec 25 and that is the maximum age that South Korean men can wait until they have to fulfil their mandatory military service.

Although the fresh-faced actor has yet to receive his draft notice, he is already preparing for his upcoming enlistment.

Kim is known for hit K-dramas such as Queen: Love And War (2019), Backstreet Rookie (2020), Snowdrop (2021) and Business Proposal (2022).

He has also acted in several films including Chasing (2016) and The Battle of Jangsari (2019).

Kim's new fantasy romance drama, Holy Idol, is expected to premiere in the first half of 2023.
