KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun wishes to be remembered as a loving man, much like the character he portrayed in the popular K-drama, Queen of Tears.
Through his role as Baek Hyun-woo, Queen of Tears, which aired in April, set a new record by becoming the most-watched series on TvN, surpassing Crash Landing on You in 2019.
"I want to be remembered as a loving man, like the character in my latest project, Queen of Tears. I hope to be thought of as a polite and caring person," he said in an Utusan Malaysia report today.
Kim was in Malaysia recently for the Cuckootopia Music Festival, held in conjunction with Cuckoo's 10th anniversary at Sunway Lagoon in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
Currently the highest-paid actor in South Korea, Kim added that he also presently filming a drama titled Knock Out, which will showcase a different side of him as an artiste.
"I am filming Knock Out, which will air next year. It's special because it reveals a different facet of me through this work.
"The story is about a man and an entrepreneur who rises from the bottom to achieve his dreams.
"It resonates with me and reflects something I strive for. I hope fans will be excited to see this project," he said.
On his first visit to Malaysia, Kim also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from fans, even at the airport.
"Yesterday, fans greeted me at the airport. Thank you so much. Even though it's raining today, I hope you all enjoy tonight," he said during a press conference before the show.
During the Cuckootopia concert that evening, Kim was officially reappointed as the brand ambassador for the household electronics company after a decade.
Also gracing the event were Malaysian Cuckoo ambassadors, national icon Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Jaclyn Victor, and Phei Yong.
