KUALA LUMPUR: Local indie post hardcore band Sekumpulan Orang Gila or SOG will be having a concert at JioSpace in Petaling Jaya on June 17.
The show comes after the band won two major awards last year, namely Best Rock Song for Tugu Ugut at AIM 23 and the top spot at AJL 36 for Pelukan Angkasa (feat. Shila Amzah).
Titled Konsert SOG Reimaginasi, the upcoming event will also feature a symphony orchestra to add an epic aural experience to the driving music of the band.
The accompanying orchestra will be made up of 30 musicians forming string, woodwind and brass sections.
Known for its musical skill and energetic performances, SOG wanted to challenge itself to try out something new with music that features a more Western slant.
Prior to this, the band had already incorporated traditional and cultural elements in their repertoire.
The two-hour concert, which begins at 8.30pm, will also present collaborations with guest artistes such as Shila Amzah, Naim Daniel and Asmidar.
"We are very excited to be able to have this concert and to give our best to our fans. This will surely be a memorable experience for everyone there that night," said the band in a recent statement.
The concert is produced by SOG in collaboration with MK Ridzuan Edutainment with funds from MyCreative Ventures under the Music Malaysia programme and the 2023 Music Industry Digital Content Fund.
