KUALA LUMPUR: Tomorrow, on Hari Raya Aidiladha, Datuk Awie may finally be reunited with his two children after eight years of separation.
"This could be a very meaningful Aidiladha for me this year. Based on the agreement, it looks like it will be on Raya Haji.
"I'm really excited waiting for this date. Hopefully it happens," said the popular rocker, actor, director and producer in a Harian Metro Online report today.
The 54-year-old artiste, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, has not seen Putra Ahmad Rezzki, 15, and Puteri Qasseh Antasha, 13, who have been under the care of his ex-wife, Rozana Misbun.
Awie added that he had received a message from his daughter Qasseh recently after losing contact for eight years.
"Qasseh had messaged me while I was in Makkah during Ramadan. I was praying and when I went home, suddenly I received a message from my kid.
"Oh Allah, tears started to roll down my cheeks at the time. She messaged more after that but later, she might not have received my replies.
"More recently, she had messaged about the possibility of meeting up during Aidiladha. She had wanted to meet me.
"I can't message her as I'm not sure if she will reply or not. I don't even know her number," he said.
Awie, who was met at the Gala Night premiere screening of the horror comedy Sue-On at a mall in Petaling Jaya last night, added that he did not know the address of their current home.
The frontman of legendary Malaysian rock group Wings was seen to be tearing up as he explained that the messages had really touched him.
"She told me it was her, Qasseh, after offering the salam. She misses me and loves me very, very much. There's a lot of other things too. I can't say anymore."
Awie who married Rozana on Jun 20, 2005 was also blessed with another child, Putra Ahmad Merrah, 16.
They divorced on Nov 1, 2014 and Merrah is now currently living with Awie.
The longstanding artiste has two other daughters, Putri Aleeya Antasha, 23, and Putri Aleefa Antasha, 21, from his first marriage to singer Arni Nazira.
On Oct 7, 2016, Awie tied the knot with Sharifah Ladyana Syed Shamsuddin and the couple are blessed with a child in 2020.
