KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Esma Daniel, 55, recently suffered a stroke but was "saved in the nick of time".
In a Facebook post today, the star of "Tun Mahathir The Musical" said that he was admitted to the emergency ward of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Bandar Tun Razak on Nov 10 after collapsing at home.
"The doctors who treated me performed an endovascular trombectomy, a state-of-the-art procedure that removes hardened blood from the brain. They told me that I had to undergo this as I was active in sports and my organs were functioning as normal," said Esma, adding that a CT scan revealed that he had a 3mm blood clot.
"Thank God I was admitted to hospital fast and saved in the nick of time. I have my dearest wife to thank for that."
Esma spent four days in the intensive care unit of the hospital and said that he was making a good recovery.
"The doctors told me my heart was all right. Thank God."
Esma said he collapsed after jogging with his wife Nur Atira Mazlan that day.
"I suddenly could not lift a glass of water in my hand. My wife also noticed that my face became out of shape. When I tried to stand up my legs became weak and she caught me as I fell."
