#Showbiz: A new voice for Alif

VERSATILE artiste Alif Satar is happy to be a voice talent for the original computer-generated image (CGI) animation series entitled 'ILM: Kebangkitan Khalifah' (Rise Of The Caliph).

The children's cartoon features a winning combination that combines science fiction, action, and adventure with spirituality.

Alif said he did not think too long before accepting his role in the project after being asked by Sinan Ismail, the founder of Durioo+, which produced the series.

"For me, it would be a loss if I turned down this special project. In addition to being entertaining, 'ILM' also serves as an Islamic learning resource for children," said Alif.

The series is streaming in Ramadan.

He added that Muslim families can benefit from watching the 'ILM' series, as well as other kid-friendly and Islamic content from the Durioo+ streaming platform, especially during the holy month.

Sharing his experience in voicing the character of Ishak, the 34-year-old actor, singer, and host said it was different from the previous time when he was a voice talent for another animation project.

He also revealed that voice recording for this new animation series was done in Malay and English.

"The recording process for each episode took a very long time.

"It was also very different this time since we were given a vocal teacher who examined every note and word that was delivered.

"The process of preparing this series involved many people and it was more challenging to record in two languages," he said.

Alif added that he accepted the offer for 'ILM' even though he was only furnished with a basic sketch initially.

"I accepted because I was thinking of the 'pahala' (rewards) that I would receive from the success of this project.

"And when they showed me the final product, I was surprised by the awesome result.

"This animation is indeed very useful and suitable for children to watch as it applies Islamic characteristics and contains a lot of lessons, good values, and ideas," he said.

The 'ILM' series is targeted at kids in the 8 to 12 age group.

It is set in the year 4030 and tells the story of a group of Muslim heroes who rebel against the oppression of Zaleem.

The post-war Mech soldiers, Siddiq and Farooq, are on a mission to track down the various bits of a holy codex scattered across the land to bring back the truth to fight the darkness and tyranny.
