KUALA LUMPUR: A member of local nasyid group Rabbani, Mohd Nazrul Azhar Tamrin, died at his residence in Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh, Selangor at about 4.40pm today. He was 47.
The sad news of Nazrul's passing was shared by Rabbani lead member, Azadan Abdul Aziz, who informed that the deceased breathed his last while sleeping.
"Both of Nazrul's kidneys were damaged and had not been working properly for the past eight years. So during that period he suffered many complications such as his left hand swelling to the point of blocking oxygen.
"Even his vision was getting blurry. Three days ago I had the chance to see him and his condition seemed okay and there were no signs of his health deteriorating badly.
"However, when his eldest son tried to wake him from his sleep, Nazrul was not responsive and an ambulance had to be called.
"As soon as the ambulance arrived, the medical personnel tried to resusitate him before confirming that he had died," he said in a Harian Metro report today.
Azadan added that Nazrul was still a member of the nasyid group even though it had been more than seven years since he took a break from participating in any performance.
"He was still a member of Rabbani even though we did not allow him to participate in shows due to his health condition.
"Only recently did he attend a show to watch us perform," he said.
Nazrul leaves behind a wife and six children.
