#SHOWBIZ: I might have died if I was 5 minutes late – Azlee Jaafar

KUALA LUMPUR: Senario comedian Azlee Jaafar, 57, said that he might have died if he arrived at the National Heart Institute (IJN) "five minutes late" last Wednesday.

The popular comedy troupe's leader said this in a Berita Harian report today following his discharge from IJN in Jalan Tun Razak here yesterday.

"Thank God I was admitted to IJN promptly. The doctors told me that I had a ruptured artery close to my heart valve and it was a matter of life and death to mend it fast," he said.

Azlee added that the doctors told him that he had a high cholesterol problem and told him to quit smoking and eat more healthily.

"Heart attacks strike us unexpectedly. At times our bodies send out warning signs but in my case there were none."

Azlee thanked his friends and fans for praying hard for his recovery.

He is currently resting at home but has to return to IJN for follow-up treatment later.

"I underwent a heart stent procedure and balloon angioplasty upon admission that day. Thank God I'm feeling a whole lot better, and my family is right behind me."
