KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian action heist movie 'The Experts' has achieved a remarkable milestone by being selected to be showcased at the 2024 Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) starting today until June 23.

In a press statement released today, its screening, categorised under the 2024 The Belt and Road Film Week line-up, will also take place in cities such as Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Hefei, apart from Shanghai itself.

Produced by Astro Shaw in association with ZAK Capital and TGV Pictures, the movie which is still showing in Malaysian cinemas stars Datuk Aaron Aziz, Syafiq Kyle, Mimi Lana, Remy Ishak, Ray Dapdap, and Maya Karin.

It tells the story of a family of five siblings who, after a decade of hard-earned peace, the ex-criminal siblings are ruthlessly dragged back to their treacherous past.

A notorious gangster blackmails them into a heart-pounding heist where old grudges ignite, and a shocking family tragedy resurfaces.

Its executive producer Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said in the statement: "We're thrilled to present 'The Expert' representing Malaysia at SIFF. Opportunities like this serve as a catalyst for us and other local industry players to continue presenting remarkable stories from Malaysia to audiences worldwide."
