#SHOWBIZ: Along's father forgives son's killer

KUALA LUMPUR: "I have forgiven him from the beginning. What happened was the will of Allah," said the father of the late Along of Spoon, Shafiee Mohd Yusof, 75, when asked about his son's killer.

Shafiee a.k.a. Pak Engku said, at first, he could not accept the truth of the news about his son's death.

"In the beginning, it was difficult for me to accept that. After a long time, I said 'Ya Allah, You are in power and I accept everything," he said in a Harian Metro report yesterday.

Pak Engku added that he did not want to meet the individual responsible for his son's death.

"I have no desire to meet him. My heart is already hurt. But if he comes to apologise, I will accept it. I have no problem with that," he said.

According to Pak Engku, the individual involved who was released from prison last year has never come to apologise to him and his family.

"I leave everything to God's will. For me, when the offender is released it doesn't matter because he is released in this world but he will have to answer in the afterlife.

"After all, death is God's will," he said.

Earlier, former policeman Mohd Ya'cob Demyati who served a 33-year prison sentence was released on November 16 last year.

He was accused of killing the singer of pop rock band Spoon, Along whose real name is Sabi'ul Malik, at Jalan Kuala Klawang, Jelebu in Negri Sembilan at 1 am on Dec 26, 1999.

Along, who was 19 at the time, was reported missing on Dec 25, 1999.

However, the police found human skeletal remains believed to belong to the deceased tied in a sack on a hillside in Jalan Kuala Klawang on Jan 6, 2000.
