#SHOWBIZ: Indonesian artistes Kotak, Ifan Seventeen & Ello Dewa 19 to rock fans in KL this August

KUALA LULMPUR: Fans of Kotak, Ifan of Seventeen, and Marcello Tahitoe, in Malaysia will get to see the artistes in action at the Indonesian Music Festival in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, here on Aug 24.

Rock band Kotak formed in 2004 and consists of vocalist Tantri (Tantri Syalindri Ichlasari), bassist Chua (Swasti Sabdastantri), and guitarist Cella (Mario Marcella).

Known for hits such as Pelan-Pelan Saja, Masih Cinta, Tendangan Dari Langit and Aku Yang Tersakiti, Kotak won Best Solo/Duo/Rock Band and Best Rock Album for its studio release Kotak Kedua at the 12th Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI).

Other accolades include Best Newcomer Group/Duo at the 2009 Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM), and Most Favourite Breakthrough Artist at the 2009 MTV Indonesia Awards.

Fans of Ifan of pop rock band Seventeen will entertain fans with popular hits such as Cinta Jangan Disembunyikan, Akujira, Menunggu Kamu, Jaga Selalu Hatimu, Sumpah Ku Mencintaimu and Hal Terindah.

Ifan, 41, whose full name is Rifian Fayacia, embarked on a solo career in 2018 and he has since been performing his signature song, the Herman Sikumbang-composed Kemarin, whenever he takes the stage.

Last but not least, singer, composer, and producer Marcello Tahitoe or Ello will be bringing his energy and charisma as the vocalist of rock band Dewa 19 to his upcoming performance here.

The 41-year-old rocker of Maluku-Batak heritage was born into a family of artistes (his father Minggoes Tahitoe and mother Diana Nasution were popular singers of the 1970s).

Ello is a multi-AMI winner, having won Best Newcomer (2005), Best Pop Album (2005), Best R&B Production Work (2005), Best Solo Rock Artist (2016, 2019), Best Rock Album (2021) and Best of the Best Album (2021).

Some of Ello's well-known songs include Gak Kayak Mantanmu, Kisah Kita T'lah Usai, Benci Tapi Rindu, Takkan Ada Aku Lagi, and Sorry Abis.

Before being enlisted as vocalist of Dewa 19 in 2022, Ello had released six studio albums, namely Ello, Realistis/Idealis, TaubMumu, Jalur Alternati, Antistatis and 99.
