KUALA LUMPUR: The rumour mill was abuzz with speculation recently after a photo of singer Datuk Wan Aishah Wan Ariffin clad in an all-white outfit with bridal makeup went viral.
Had the 59-year-old artiste, better known as Aishah, returned to married life after going at it alone for two years as a single mother?
"After the photo went viral, some people contacted me to get confirmation. Some even congratulated me.
"I appreciate your concern, but for the record, I'm not married," she said in a Berita Harian report today.
Putting a damp squib on the matter, she added: "This photo was taken when I was filming for a project that will be announced soon."
"By chance, a friend was with me and took a picture of me from all angles including my finger with a ring on it and shared it on social media.
"Because of that, many people thought I was married again. All this is just a misunderstanding," she said.
Aishah added that although many had offered congratulatory messages, there were those who showered her with negativity as well.
"Many congratulated me and were happy to see me happy, but there were also those who seemed dissatisfied and were quick to judge.
"I'm labeled as the marry-and-divorce artiste. Regarding marriage, everything is determined by God and no one gets married to get divorced," she said.
The Janji Manismu singer elaborated that she was in no hurry to get hitched.
"Right now, I don't have time to think and look for a potential husband. To be honest, I'm lazy.
"I am happy with my life now. Not having a husband does not mean not being happy. Women are okay living alone.
"My time is filled with my career and making handicrafts. My life is focused on taking care of my children and pet cats," she said.
Aishah added that if she were to ever get married, she would sound the alarm and let everyone know.
"I will not keep it a secret. It is a sin if we lie and say that we are not married, when we actually are," she said.
In 2017, Aishah announced that she had remarried after six years of divorce with her third husband, Faizal Sazali Zulkifli whom she wedded in 2010.
However, Aishah fourth marriage also ended with a divorce in 2022.
Aishah is blessed with a son, Armand Azhari, 30, from her first marriage and Azhad Ahlami, 25, from her second marriage.
