#SHOWBIZ: Filmed in Malaysia, 'The Mole' features Tioman, KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has been used as the backdrop for the second season of Netflix's reality competition The Mole.

Currently streaming, the series features a group of 12 contestants who have to work on missions to win money that goes into a shared prize pot.

One of them is a mole who will sabotage their efforts and try not to get caught.

From the trailer and the first five episodes, the Petronas Twin Towers, Pulau Tioman, Forest City Johor and Port Klang have been the featured locations.

Filming for the first two episodes in Tioman took place last year at Monkey Bay according to says.com.

The fifth episode featured contestants at Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur.

"We were thrilled to host the contestants as they went on their mission at our workshops," said Sentul Depot on Instagram.

The show's host Ari Shapiro said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the entire second season took place in Malaysia.

The Mole's original series aired on American television network ABC in 2001 with Anderson Cooper as the host.

It was rebooted by Netflix in 2022, and hosted by Alex Wagner.
