KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Harith Iskander, 58, admitted that he and his ex-wife, Dr Jezamine Lim, 41, had tried to save their marriage for 14 years, but failed.
"We had been trying to save our marriage for a long time. It's not just me, Jezamine had also been trying.
"We had done everything and separation was the last resort.
"Which marriage has no problems. If you think of problems as a cause of divorce, that's not good either.
"Every relationship has different problems, how big the problem is will lead to bad things," he said in a Berita Harian report today.
Harith was met after the divorce proceedings at the Lower Sharia Court for the Federal Region, here, today.
Despite the divorce, Buli Balik and Cuci actor said that he and his ex-wife are still good friends for the sake of their children.
Harith added that Dr Jezamine would remain as the manager of his artistic career.
"We have come to this stage in a good way, we are still friends for the good of the children.
"This matter is all progressing smoothly and we have arrived at a stage where we have agreed on all aspects of this divorce.
"We will continue our work as usual. We have a company that needs to be taken care of.
"Only in terms of our relationship, we are no longer husband and wife, but our relationship as friends and business partners is still good," he said.
When asked how their children felt about the decision to separate, Harith said they were starting to understand it.
"We have informed them and opened up space for them to ask anything.
"For me, the children are okay. We will make sure there is nothing that will disturb them from a social perspective," he said.
Regarding the accusation of cheating following the revelation that he had made a mistake, Harith said there was no need to escalate the matter.
"As explained in the previous video, there is no need to revive it again," he said.
When queried on the possibility of a reconciliation, Harith said that he would leave the matter to God.
"It's all in God's hands and no one can say what will happen tomorrow.
"Even before getting married, I never knew that tomorrow I would get married. Maybe one day if we are destined to be together, God willing," he said.
