#SHOWBIZ: Wife of ailing Fredo to become e-hailing driver to help with finances

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Fredo Villenguez, 73, who has been suffering from a heart condition since last year and is unable to work, will soon get a helping hand from his wife and fellow singer Suzlynna Mustapha.

Suzlynna, 60, whose father was the late screen legend Datuk Mustapha Maarof, will soon become an e-hailing driver to support her husband's medical treatment.

"Fredo has been unable to work since his heart condition was diagnosed last year. So here is where I have to step in to be the breadwinner of the family," she said in a Berita Harian report yesterday.

"I also sell pineapple tarts, but this business doesn't generate sufficient funds for Fredo's treatment."

Suzlynna said that being an e-hailing driver was a flexible job, and she could work any day she wanted, as long as she had time to look after her husband.

"The doctor said that I should not leave my husband alone for too long. I have to wait until he is fitter and stronger before I take up the e-hailing driver's job."

Suzlynna has two cars borrowed from her relatives but these vehicles are 10 years old.

"I'm not sure if the e-hailing company will allow me to drive in these cars. They have to ascertain if the cars are road-worthy or otherwise."
