KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Datuk Nora Ariffin, 51, has alleged that her husband Dr Rushdi Ramli was forced to divorce her against his will.
In a Berita Harian report today, Nora claimed that Rushdi was forced to make a video recording of the divorce as proof.
"My husband was made to divorce me without a reason," she said, declining to reveal the person who made him do it.
Nora subsequently said in an Instagram Story that she did not blame Rushdi for what had happened.
"I was shocked at what happened, but I still find comfort in knowing that God is with me and my children," she said.
In September last year, Nora quashed rumours that her marriage to Rushdi, a senior lecturer at the Fiqh and Usul Department of Universiti Malaya (UM), was on the rocks.
"I just want to focus on my life's priorities which include my younger children's education, new projects, health and career," said Nora.
Nora announced her marriage to Rushdi sometime in 2021, but she did not include details about it.
She also shared that Rushdi was a good friend of her first husband, the late composer Johan Nawawi.
Nora and Johan were married in 1992 and they have four children.
Johan died of a heart attack in 2017. He was 52.
In 2019, Nora lost her second child, Muhammad Syakir Aliff, 20, to a heart ailment.
NST's attempts to contact Rushdi were unsuccessful.
