#SHOWBIZ: Nora denies former husband divorced her at gunpoint

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Datuk Nora Ariffin admits that her recent divorce resulted after her former husband Dr Rushdi Ramli had been asked to do so by an individual through a telephone call.

"It happened right in front of me, right after we performed the Subuh prayer," the 51-year-old artiste recounted to reporters earlier today.

"When it happened, I was so shocked that I remember I didn't know how to react or response to that at that moment.

"All I could think of then was, what had I done wrong?

"I also know who the caller was," revealed Nora, although she refused to share further details to the media.

She was met during the press conference held here earlier to announce her upcoming debut solo concert, Hanya Satu: Datuk Nora Ariffin (30 Years Journey), slated for Dec 18.

She admitted that as a result, she became too emotional and recorded the incident before uploading it to social media without thinking it through.

"It was my fault for doing so and I had already apologised to him  (Rushdi) and being the good man that he is, he understood how traumatising it must have been for me that I couldn't think rationally then.

"It was out of my control," she said.

They married some time in 2021, but Nora had never disclosed the exact date and when asked again today, she simply refused to answer.

Rushdi was also a friend of her late husband Johan Nawawi.

Johan passed away on March 24, 2017 at 52, due to heart attack.

On Aug 12, Nora uploaded the 52-second video on her Instagram, but said the incident took place before the day the video was uploaded.

She also denied speculations that Rushdi was threatened to pronounce the talak at gunpoint.
