#SHOWBIZ: MALIQ & D'Essentials to hold KL concert in December

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Indonesian jazz and soul band MALIQ & D'Essentials is set to stage its concert here at the end of the year.

In a press statement released yesterday by the concert organiser Kharisma Music, the concert titled Can Machines Fall In Love? Album Tour will take place at Mega Star Arena KL on Dec 29.

"We had successfully gone to Jakarta to secure the exclusive right to stage the concert for the band here," said Kharisma Music founder and CEO Ahmad Jeffny in the statement.

This concert is a part of a tour, which will also be the first big scale tour performance in both Indonesia and Malaysia for the band established in 2002.

Although the tour was to promote the band's ninth album, 'Can Machines Fall In Love?', which was released in May, other hits from previous albums will also be performed.

Bandmembers Angga Puradiredja, Indah Wisnuwardhana, Widi Puradiredja, Jawa, Lale and Ilman Ibrahim are thrilled to perform at several locations back home, before the final leg here in Malaysia.

"This will be our first tour series since we formed 20 years ago.

"Fans in Malaysia can expect us to perform about 20 songs during the two-hour concert," said drummer Widi who promised a concert with a concept the band had never presented before.

"Come and celebrate our two decades of being in the industry," he said.
