KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Ismail Izzani, 24, has admitted that his parents were divorced two years ago.
However, they remain in great terms and he visits them all the time.
"It was not easy for me to see my parents end their marriage at first, but I have got used to things now, and I love both of them dearly," said Ismail in a Berita Harian report yesterday.
While Ismail misses the days when he had "one big, happy family", he realises that marriage and divorce are God's will and he has to accept the fact that his parents are no longer together.
Ismail's mother 1980s singer Datin Suliza Salam and her husband Datuk Zainal Nazeri Zainuddin were married on Jan 11, 1991 and divorced in 2022.
They have three children and Ismail is their youngest child and only son.
"After my parents' divorce, I have a responsibility to take care of my mother and elder sisters as the only man in the family," said Ismail.
"I now live alone, a six-minute drive away from my mother's house."
