#SHOWBIZ: I paid the rent for my family when I was eight — Aedy Ashraf

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Aedy Ashraf, who became a child star at six, learned to pay monthly rent on behalf of his single mother around the same time.

In a recent news report, the 31-year-old War On Terror: KL Anarki star said: "When I was six, I was already earning money from acting and two years later, my mother gave me the responsibility of paying the monthly rent for our home."

Aedy added: "When I was 19, the producers didn't know what role to cast me in. I was too big for a teenage role but too young for an adult role. So, I felt that my journey as an actor was as good as over."

As soon as he finished his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, Aedy decided to leave entertainment and sell insurance to support his family.

"I became disillusioned with acting for a year, but soon changed my mind because a production company offered me a good role in a drama," he said.

"Since then I rekindled my love of acting and today I am determined to act for as long as it takes."
