All cool as ex-hubby becomes witness in woman's wedding

KENINGAU: Despite being divorced, there were no hard feelings between a man and his ex-wife, with the former being a witness to her second marriage recently.

Zaida Nerson, who married Mohd Naim Amir Hasan, created a special memory when her ex-husband, Azroy Juli, acted as a witness at her wedding alongside their two children in Kampung Masjid here.

A video on TikTok capturing the memory garnered many views and comments from netizens, who praised the three individuals, noting their kind hearts and positive outlook.

Sharing her story, Zaida said she separated from her ex-husband in 2021 after 11 years of marriage. They have two children, aged 9 and 11, who are now under her care.

She mentioned that although their marital bond had been severed, she and Azroy still maintained a good relationship as friends.

She admitted that before getting married, she and her ex-husband were close friends, distant relatives and lived in the same village.

"We separated amicably and with mutual agreement for the sake of our two children, and since we are adults, there was no animosity. My ex-husband is responsible and looks after the children, including taking them to school every day," she said.

She added that when she informed him about her upcoming marriage, her ex-husband shared her joy and expressed his wish to be a witness.

"Azroy conveyed his intention to my then future husband. During the ceremony, he sat behind him, and it was a moving sight for family members present at the event.

"Our two children also welcomed my new husband, and he has no issues with Azroy.

"Alhamdulillah, my new husband has never prevented me from maintaining communication with Azroy, as long as I understand my boundaries and status as a married woman. Moreover, we communicate only concerning matters related to our children," she said.

Regarding her TikTok post, Zaida said the video was recorded by a guest, and she later shared it as a keepsake, never expecting it to attract netizens' attention.

She said she felt touched and grateful for the support and prayers from the public for her family and Azroy.

"We are united in managing our children, and I also do not want the children to feel sad. We all have our own lives now and always maintain a positive mindset. I only wish for the best, and life will be peaceful," she said.
