KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer-actor from Hong Kong Law Kar-Ying dated a Malaysian woman, his first girlfriend, before he married veteran actress Liza Wang, his wife of more than 15 years.
Hype reported recently that Law, 77, who was born in China, revealed this in an interview with Hong Kong media, and praised Malaysian women as "passionate and considerate".
Law also said he will be coming to Malaysia for a concert in December.
"If I had succeeded in my relationships, I would have married earlier and had children. I wouldn't have married at the age of 62," he said.
Law acknowledged that his journey in pursuing Wang taught him the importance of patience when it comes to love.
"Pursuing someone comes with painful memories. It took me 20 years. Patience is very important," he said.
Wang, whose famous television series include Love And Passion and The Shell Game, was married to businessman Lau Cheung Wah between 1971 and 1983.
In 2004, Law was diagnosed with liver cancer. He later recovered and thanked Wang for helping him pull through during that challenging time.
The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas, the United States on May 2, 2009.
