#SHOWBIZ: Song release tone deaf move amidst divorce drama, says Fazura's manager

KUALA LUMPUR: Iman Tang, the manager of actress and singer Nur Fazura, has criticised the decision to release the duet single Bertahan Demi Cinta, performed by Fazura and her ex-husband Fattah Amin, calling it insensitive amidst ongoing news of their recent divorce.

Tang expressed concern that the release could be perceived as an attempt to capitalise on the couple's divorce, potentially giving the wrong impression of both the artistes and their management.

He emphasised that releasing the song, especially with a title like that, is inappropriate given the current circumstances.

"If I'm not mistaken, this duet was recorded before the airing of Hero Seorang Cinderella 2.

"I thought it had been shelved, but now there's news of its release," said in a Berita Harian report today.

He added that releasing the song during this period might be seen as a gimmick or marketing strategy tied to the divorce.

"I consulted with our lawyer, Fakhrul Azman Abu Hassan, and he agreed that this move is inappropriate. "People will think we're using this painful time to sell a song or product," he said.

Tang also revealed that Fazura had not been informed about the song's impending release and did not support the idea.

He shared that Fazura felt it was not the right time to promote the duet, which was recorded long before their separation.

"I don't handle Fazura's music career anymore, Universal Music Malaysia does.

"I'm unsure of their plans, but I feel this is the wrong approach.

"Respect someone going through a tough time, don't take advantage of it," he said.

To safeguard Fazura's reputation, Tang confirmed that she would not be promoting the song.

"If Fazura promotes it, I will be upset. This is not something to exploit.

"The focus should be on more important matters, like family, not on trivialising divorce."

An Indonesian record label had earlier announced on Instagram that the single Bertahan Demi Cinta would be available on all streaming platforms tomorrow.

Fattah Amin officially divorced Fazura on Monday at the Petaling Syariah Lower Court, ending their seven-year marriage.

They have a daughter, Nur Fatima Aisya, 4.
