KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Nora Danish reminds married men to take the 'nafkah' (subsistence) issue seriously.
In a recent podcast session, the 42-year-old artiste said that this issue had been the cause of many recent divorce cases.
"According to my legal counsel, many divorce cases resulted from financial and monetary issues faced by married couples.
"In today's reality, many men do not take this issue and responsibility seriously. Perhaps this is also due to the fact that many women now have their own independent source of income."
She added that in Islam, it is compulsory for the husband to provide everything for his wife.
"It doesn't matter the amount, but if it is fulfilled diligently and consistently, that could help in maintaining a good marriage as well as getting God's blessing." she said.
Single men, who intend to move on into their next phase in life, must also be prepared financially so that they will not forget the duty of providing their future wives with subsistence, said the actress.
